The 'Customer search' report provides you with the ability to locate customers by their purchase order number, credit card number, check number, wire transfer number, or telephone number.
Purchase order numbers
Payment numbers
Phone numbers
To locate a customer or order with a given number, enter the number in the appropriate column and click "OK." Use the "Payment numbers" column to search for any identifier associated with a payment, such as a check number, wire transfer number or the last four digits of a credit card number. QuickFill will scan all of the customers and/or orders in the database in order to locate your number and will produce a report that shows the order numbers or customer numbers that matched. Since this scan may take a while, depending on the size of your database, you can search for multiple numbers of each type in a single pass.
Matching of the numbers is done without regard to spacing or punctuation. So if you enter a telephone number of 401-123-5678, this will also match 401 123 5678 and 4011235678.
You may use wild cards in the numbers for which you are searching. A question mark will match any other single character, while an asterisk on the beginning or end of the number will match any number of characters.
Example: You want to locate the customer whose phone number is 555-1212. You don't know the area code. In fact, you don't know whether the phone number was entered with an area code or not. So you enter two numbers: 555-1212 and ???-555-1212. The first number will match if the customer's phone number has no area code, and the second will match any area code.
Example: A customer's purchase order number typically ends in the year it was issued. You wish to find purchase order number 123456, but you don't know in what year it was issued. So enter 123456*, and QuickFill will locate all orders with purchase order numbers that begin with 123456.
