Exclude customers with any/all of these selection flags

Every customer record has eight selection flags which can be set or cleared via the address change transaction or by the 'Mark Customers' update. Use these checkboxes to include or exclude customers based on the state of the selection flags. If you choose the 'any' option then the customer will be included (or excluded) if any one of the indicated selection flags is set. If you choose the 'all' option then the customer will be included (or excluded) only if all of the indicated selection flags are set. Other flags may be set too, but all of the indicated selection flags must be set for the customer to be considered to be a match.

Use this group of options to specify whether you want to include customers based on the entry in their 'Postal', 'E-mail', Phone', or 'Fax' allowed usage field.  You should also check one or more of the boxes below to indicate which categories you want.

Suppose you were going to rent a list to another magazine for use in a promotional mailing delivered by bulk postal mail. In that case you would select the 'Postal address' option to indicate the intended purpose of the selection. You would check the 'All purposes' box but not any of the other boxes. Customers who said that their postal address could be used for in-house use only should not be included. Similarly, customers that said that you can only send them renewal notices should not be included, nor should you include anybody who said their name could not be used for any purpose at all.

If you were going make a mailing to promote another title of your own, then you would check both the 'All purposes' and 'In-house use only' boxes. If you were going to send a blanket renewal for a Christmas promotion then you would check 'All purposes', 'In-house use only' and 'For renewals only'.
